July 28th, 2010When it comes to trying to make money online, it was extremely hard to figure out the best route to pursue. There are so many different options to choose from and so many different reviews to read online, that it made it tough to figure out what road to take. How do you figure out which ones actually work? When I became 46 years old, I was bound and determined to quit my job and make money online. Most of us dream about working from home and not having to punch a clock, or not having to answer to some boss. But most of us aren’t willing to do what it takes to pursue our dreams. I know that money isn’t everything in life; happiness is the most important to me. I will say though, it helps to have a little extra cash when your kids start going to college. And I also believe that it is very important to build your net worth!
One way to try and make money online is to have your own website. Sounds like a great idea, doesn’t it? Well if you’re like me, I didn’t have a clue on how to build a website or what to do to make it successful. But like I said earlier, I was determined to make money online. I didn’t know anything about HTML, search engine optimization, website hosting companies, Google Adsense or Adwords, Meta keywords, just to name a few things that go along with a website.
The first thing that I thought of was to go out and hire a marketing firm to help me, and believe me; there are thousands to choose from. There not cheap either! They’re going to tell you things like you can make a thousand dollars in your first month. They’ll act like making money online is so easy and simple. To work from home and make money online only takes 10 to 15 hours a week. They don’t tell you about hiring someone to do your business taxes. They don’t tell you about incorporating your business and the costs associated with that. And you might want to go out and hire a lawyer to take care of the legal matters.
Running a website is a way to start to work from home, but it takes persistence. Don’t expect to start to make money online right away because getting traffic to your site takes a lot of time. You have to do many different things to get people to visit your site. You have to write articles, blogs and add your site to a lot of different directories, just to name a few. I’m not trying to discourage anyone from starting their own website; I’m just trying to inform you on what it takes to run a website. If this is your dream, then by all means, go for it!

When I first got into the “make money online” field, I couldn’t get focused. I was listening to this guy, that guy, another guy, every guy and got information overload and didn’t take action.
I wasn’t able to pick a project and stay focused and finish it. I would read an e-book or take some information from someone and try to put that information in use to make money for myself online.
Some of them had great information and I could make money from the information when I started that project. The problem was that I would never finish a project. I was always searching for something better. I was always looking for the next big thing. I was looking for something that didn’t exist. I was looking for something that didn’t require hardly any work and was going to make me a millionaire overnight.
There is no product that is going to do this for you!
I had the information in my hands to make a handsome living online. I just wasn’t using it. I wasn’t staying focused on a project long enough to see any returns.
I was lied to, like most people who get into the making money online field. We are told by people who want to sell their products to us, that we will make a million dollars overnight and don’t have to do much work. Guess what, you won’t make that kind of money overnight and it does take some work.
What you should do is pick out some projects and finish them.
